Why Isn't The Whole World Converted to Christianity?

A lot of Christians and Catholics may wonder “Why hasn’t the whole world converted yet? We have such a great faith? What’s behind this? Do we have any control over it?”

Some typical answers to this question would be “There are too many bad things going on in the world” or “There’s not enough proof” or “There are too many other religions”.
But I am here to tell you that I believe it has absolutely NOTHING to do with any of these objections. CHRISTIANS are the reason that the whole world isn’t converted. It is our fault. Sounds ironic eh?

Think about it though. How are Christians nowadays living their lives? Are they trying to live according to the Gospel? Most importantly, do you see a difference in the way Christians live then people who aren’t Christians? If you don’t, then there’s your problem.

People are converted to Christianity when they meet a person who resonates peace, comfort, sacrifice, love, and joy. Mother Theresa is a perfect example. She met many pagans throughout her life. These were people who were convinced they would never believe in a God. Mother Theresa didn’t sit them down and come up with an argument for them. She didn’t try to persuade them to become a Catholic, come to church or pray with her. Her presence and the way she listened, spoke and lived, absolutely amazed people. She exonerated the love that all Christians should be giving to the world. Pagans would want whatever it was that Mother Theresa had. This was her faith. They wanted to be happy and could see something was missing in their lives. But their conversion didn’t happen because of some argument. It happened because they had an encounter with Christ through Mother Theresa.

How are we to expect people to convert to our faith if we seem miserable, anxious, impatient, or jealous? What about those of us who love to gossip? What about those who have no self-control? What about those who constantly judge one another? What about those of us who constantly interrupt conversations because we are so focused on the things that we have to say that we forget how to listen to each other? These are things that go completely against what Christ wants for us. These things not only kill our own faith, but those of the faith around us.

YES, we are sinners. YES, we are NOT perfect. But are we even trying? Do we ask God for mercy and try to turn our lives around? Do people see something beautiful in our lives that they are missing in theirs.

Before Jesus ascends back into heaven, He says in Matthew 28:19 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” Jesus wants us as his disciples to convert the entire world to Christianity. He says it himself! He didn’t say “Go and make disciples of SOME nations”. He said “ALL NATIONS”.

It is our job as Christians to do this by living our lives radically. As it says in the song, “They will know we are Christians by our love”.
